The WordPress blog you’re on right now, BestWebDesignSoftwareDeals.com, was created with Artisteer.  I’m sort of a WordPress theme junkie and love hunting for new themes.  There are so many talented web designers.  However, what I didn’t like was not being able to easily modify them without digging into the php code.

I like certain fonts, colors, textures, gradients, and usage of sidebars.  I’d often find a neat theme, but perhaps didn’t like two sidebars on the same side.  So began my search for a WordPress theme builder.  That’s when I found Artisteer and downloaded the 30-day free trial to check it out.  Within a few hours I was in love with it and bought it a couple of days later.

It’s really easy to use.  A theme has various sections where you can change colors, fonts, layout, columns and more.  Here’s a shot of the tool bar.  You can also click the Suggest button on the far left while in any of the sections and the software will randomly suggest variations for which ever section you’re in.  I use the suggestions as a jumping off point for my own designs by changing any element to suit my current needs.

Artisteer is constantly adding new textures and gradients, one of my favorite features, that turns flat color into eye-popping sensational effects.  Plus, you can also use your own graphics from files on your hard drive.

Artisteer Is Perfect For Affiliate Marketers

Gone are the days when I’d build HTML sites for affiliate marketing.  Now, I strictly use WordPress and Artisteer is the software I use to make my WordPress themes.  With so many free WordPress plugins available, I haven’t run into anything I can’t do on WordPress that I was doing on my old school traditional sites.  (Affiliate marketers, learn how to hide your affiliate links in WordPress.)  Sometimes I’ll create a brand new theme when I start a new site and other times I’ll modify a master theme that I’ve already tweeked to just the way I like it, simply by changing colors and the header area.

All of the free sites that I know of will delete your site in a few weeks if you don’t upgrade to a paid account. However, there is a cPanel web host called WebHostingHub that supports Joomla that has hosting accounts as low as $1.99/month. That’s darn near free, IMHO. And they don’t raise your rates when it’s time to renew. They have something called a price lock guarantee. They use the Softaculous script installer in the control panel and you’ll find Joomla in there.

Seriously? You sound like Bill Gates back in the day by promising something you have no clue how to create. Do you have cPanel access to their web hosting account? Go look in the script installer to find something.  WordPress, Joomla, some bulletin board stuff already have membership login stuff.

I suggest starting with WordPress and then look for some membership plugins that will give you more specific control.

I’m looking for something basic, without all the bells and whistles. I need to be able to incorporate this application into my website’s design. Basically, I need to be able to create categories and then enter faq’s for each category. I dont need to provide anything else. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a web hosting account?  You might already have free FAQ software available in your control panel.  Look for the software installer application.  There’s one called FAQMasterFlex in my WebHostingHub account.  You can make unlimited categories/questions/answers and it has web-based administration.

I have signed up to be a Clickbank associate and now all I need is a website. I have tried to build one through Intuit, but was told it doesn’t support Clickbank code. Several other site building sites doesn’t support it either. Tis a little frustrating now in finding something inexpensive that will support it. Anyone have suggestions?

A lot of those online site builders and blogs don’t allow you to monetize your site because they don’t want your money making activities interfering with their own.

You need your own web hosting to be able to use ClickBank code.  I would suggest WebHostingHub for hosting.  Sign up, then log into the cPanel control panel, go to the Software/Services section and click on Fantastico Deluxe.  There is all kinds of free software in there that you can build a site with.  You can use any of the Blogs, Content Management or Site Builders.  I would suggest WordPress because it has the most free templates and plugins available and an extensive user base for support and help.

You can even build your own WordPress themes with a program called Artisteer.

Can i buy web site creator sofware and design a website with my own domain without using a goddady type site?  At compusa and best buy there is web site creation software and i was wondering if there was software that i could use to create a website without going through godaddy or web.com or geosites? if so what is it?

Answer:

You can use the website creator software on your personal computer to design and build a website.  But if you want to see your site on the internet, you have to purchase web hosting and point your domain name’s DNS nameservers to your web hosting company.  Then using your site creator software, you’ll publish your website’s files to your hosting account.

But if you’re asking if you can get additional software so you can do your own web hosting, the short answer is no.  Your ISP wouldn’t allow you to be your own web host on a residential line even if you got a web server and connected it to the internet backbone.  All that infrastructure costs THOUSANDS of dollars a month.

But luckily web hosting is cheap.  I’m talking like only $3.50/mo at iPage.  You’ll be able to publish your own website with that software you’re looking at or you can do it even easier by making a WordPress blog.  The iPage control panel is really easy to use.  It’s got a great software installer called SimpleScripts with all kinds of cool software to install on your site, including WordPress.

You may have heard about WordPress.com, but it’s extremely limited because you can’t use your own themes and plugins.  Themes and plugins are the heart of the real magic of WordPress.  With your own web hosting account, you’ll be able to upload your own WordPress themes and plugins.  Heck, you can even put advertising on the site and make some money.

Question:  I’m looking into making a custom template for a website. What would be the best solution to creating a professional look to a website?

Answer:  I used to use FrontPage, then upgraded to Expression Web and started using its Dynamic Web Templates.  That made site building a lot easier, but I got tired of dealing with the FrontPage extensions on the web server.

Then I started getting interested in using WordPress to run my sites.  It’s absolutely possible to build a WordPress blog that looks like a regular website.  I got hooked on all the free WordPress themes out there, but seems like there was always some little thing I would like to have that the them lacked.  So I started looking for a WordPress theme builder and I found Artisteer.

Question:  I need help in changing a header in wordpress theme. This is a custom theme so admin, general is not available. I have the header in the same size and format as the other header. Please help. Website is jaxbjj.com and I see the header.php, but I am lost here. Here is the .phpfile.

Answer:  That’s an Artisteer generated theme.  Know how I can tell?  I use Artisteer and by default (unless you change it), see how the classes start with “art-”?  That’s how I know.  You don’t need to change the code.  You said your other image is the same size so just replace the old one with the new one.  Here’s how to do it. 

• On your web server, go to your WordPress installation to the wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME/images/ folder.  The current image is in there.  YOURTHEME would be the active theme.  The header is in the /images/ folder. 
• Rename the current image by appending -orig to the file name like this:  header-orig.jpg.  You’ll want to save the original image file in case you screw something up and can rename it back.
• Now rename your new file to be the same name as the current file.  So header.jpg becomes header-orig.pjg.  Then your newfile.jpg gets renamed to header.jpg.

The other way would be to get the .artx source code file for the theme and then modify it within Artisteer.  Click here to download Artisteer for free to try it out.  Then you can make all the themes you want, any way you want.
