Do you need help with only designing your website, or do you need help to actually build it?
Because if all you need is the design work, you should do that yourself. A web design shop can do that, but I wouldn’t pay for it unless they also do the site development which is a bigger job.

A 10-15 page web site is small site so that should be easy to do. But if you are going to have a shopping cart, you will want to make sure the site is secure and set up all the financial set ups with credit cards and paypal, etc. That might be more than what you want to handle.

If you go the shop route, be sure to work out whether they are going to do the initial site development as a one-time job only or if you want them to continue performing maintenance and updates on the site.

The domain name and hosting service are the absolute must costs. If you go to a web shop, then there’s that too.

The easiest thing to do is view the current header image.
Note it’s url.
Note it’s name.
Rename your header image to the same as the current one.
Ftp your image up to the folder where the current one lives – it will overwrite.

There’s your image. Upload yours with the same name to wp-content/themes/jaxbjj/images

You’re done. Refresh your page and you should see your image.

You can use tools like Dreamweaver or FrontPage, but the resulting sites will be bloated and not the most efficient sites.

Web developers write code from scratch using HTML, Javascript, CSS and any scripting required.

Of course it is. There are no monetization restrictions on student software. Student software is the same as the public version. The only difference is the price. Large companies like Adobe and Microsoft give discounts to students (with student ID proof).

I don’t have a web design business, but I can make a few observations. You need a niche market. If you slap up your web design business website and just advertise online, you’ll never get any business. The niche needs to be your local community. Individuals and businesses wanting an online presence want to work with a local designer and not some “Peggy from USA Prime Credit” half way around the world or even in some other part of the US. If you do a good job, word will spread and you’ll get referrals. Always get your customers’ permission to use them in your portfolio so other businesses in the area can see your work.

You’re web design business website must be optimized for your town so people can find you. Make sure your site’s description includes your city, ST. If you want a catchy name, see if you can incorporate either your first or last name into the business name. I know of a local web design company where the person’s last name is Bourn and their business name is Bourn Creative.

Oh, and real coders code by hand.

Using those free site designers on a web hosting account usually have some pretty cheezy templates that look no so professional.

I would suggest a few things. XSitePro or Web Easy Professional. A friend of mine built http://livingcreations.org/ with Web Easy. Take a look at both of them. Ewisoft is another one you can check out.
